FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College swept a season series with a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opponent for the first time after defeating Albright in both ends of a doubleheader, 15-1 and 5-3.

The Blazers had won the first meeting between the teams, 10-5, on Friday.

On Saturday, Hood tied a school record with seven doubles in the opener. In game two, Brooks Warrenfeltz (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) and Josh Gall (Odenton, Md. / Arundel) hit back-to-back homers in the first inning.

For the day, Warrenfeltz went 5-for-7 with two doubles, a home run, five runs scored and six runs batted in. Chris Shriver (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson) had big game in the opener, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs.

Starting pitchers Nate Luscombe (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton) and Jake Franke (Lisbon, Md. / Glenelg) both pitched at least six innings for the wins. Luscombe got the ball in game one and struck out nine without a walk. He scattered six hits and allowed only one run. In game two, Franke allowed one earned run in 6.1 innings and struck out four. Michael Hernandez (Lancaster, Pa. / Hempfield) got his third save of the year.

Hood improved to 11-12 on the year and 4-5 in the MAC Commonwealth.

Warrenfeltz, Shriver and Dylan Johnson (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) each had two doubles as the Blazers pounded out 20 hits in the win.

In addition to Shriver's four-hit, five-RBI game, four other players had three hits. Warrenfeltz went 3-for-3, scored three times and walked. Johnson finished 3-for-4. Nathan Kessler (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) went 3-for-4, as did Tyler Cook (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove). Cook doubled and scored three runs.

Cook, Warrenfeltz and Johnson had RBI doubles in a four-run second inning that stretched the lead to 6-0.

Hood doubled its lead in the third. Wayne Baldwin (Mount Airy, Md. / Chapelgate Christian Academy) scored the first run of the inning and drove in the last as the Blazers batted around. In between, a two-run single by Warrenfeltz was the big hit of the inning.

Shriver added a two-run double in the fourth as Hood made it 15-0.

The Lions' Noah Beebe homered in the sixth for their only run of the game.

Luscombe improved to 3-1 with the win. Kole Hearn (Seaford, Del. / Sussex Tech) pitched a scoreless seventh.

Mathew Costa allowed five runs over 1.1 innings to take the loss as the first of five pitchers for Albright.

Beebe and Julian Cimino both had two hits.

Warrenfeltz and Gall hit back-to-back home runs in the first, but Hernandez needed to pitch out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh to lock down the 5-3 win.

Warrenfeltz and Gall were both 2-for-4, while Cook went 2-for-3. Johnson had a hit and a walk.

Jeff Yordy reached on an error to start the game and later scored on a Tanner Brescancine single for a 1-0 Albright advantage.

Esposito singled to lead off for the Blazers and Warrenfeltz followed with a two-run shot to left for a 2-1 lead. Gall stepped into the box and took one over the fence in center to make it 3-1.

Hood extended the lead to 5-2 in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Esposito

In the top of the seventh, the Lions cut it to 5-3 and had the bases loaded when Hernandez struck out Cimino to end the game.

Hood travels to Mount Aloysius for a non-conference doubleheader on Apr. 5.
