Schnitzker's Breakout Game Sparks Blazers

ROSEMONT, Pa.--Junior Julie Schnitzker scored two goals and
assisted on two others to power the Hood College field hockey team
(1-2) to its first win of 2007 Sunday over Rosemont College (0-1)
by a score of 5-1.
Schnitzker got the Blazers on the board less than 10 minutes into
the game with an unassisted score. Later in the half, Schnitzker
set up sophomore Brandy Noel for her first tally of the season to
give Hood a 2-0 cushion. Rosemont got one back before the break
when Liz Kemp scored her first goal with less than five minutes
left in the half.
The Blazers kept Rosemont off the scoreboard in the final 35
minutes and padded their lead with three unanswered goals. Overall,
Hood outshot Rosemont 36-5, including 27-2 in the second half
alone.
Schnitzker's second unassisted goal came with just under 19
minutes remaining. Five minutes later, she and Christa Lunnskow
were credited with assists on Lizzie Hope's first goal of the fall.
Jessica Head's tally capped the scoring with just 1:45 to go in the
contest.
Hood's Ashley Saylor played the first 31 minutes in the cage and
freshman Anne Marie Hantman got her first collegiate action late in
the first half and did not allow a Rosemont score in the second
half.
Hood returns to action Wednesday in its Capital Athletic
Conference debut against York College (Pa.) at Thomas Athletic
Field at 4:30 p.m.
