Jen Lacy
SCRANTON, Pa.--Senior and first-year Hood goalkeeper Jen Lacy made 17 saves for the Hood College field hockey team (0-1) in a 4-0 loss to the Marywood University Pacers Saturday afternoon in the season opener for both programs.
Lacy, a transfer from Florida Atlantic University who also lettered for Hood's softball team last spring, made her first career start in the cage this afternoon, turning away nine shots in the first half and eight in the second.
The Pacers did not allow a Blazer shot on goal all afternoon and peppered Lacy with 25 shots on the day, netting three goals in the first half and one in the second half. Carly Savastano notched a goal in each half while Emily Wentzel tallied a goal and an assist for Marywood. Katelyn Buckley also got into the scoring column for the Pacers, who attempted 20 penalty corners in the contest.
The Blazers' home and Capital Athletic Conference opener is slated for Wednesday Sept. 3 against the No. 2-ranked team in NCAA Division III, the Salisbury University Sea Gulls, at 5 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
