Noel Snags Hood Athlete of the Week Honors

FREDERICK, Md.--Junior Brandy Noel of the Hood College field hockey team has been named as the Hood College Athlete of the week for her efforts against College of Notre Dame (Md.) on Saturday.
Noel, a forward/midfielder, scored two goals and had an assist
in Hood's first win of the 2008 season. The victory also marks just
the second win for Hood in 15 all-time meetings with their former
Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference rivals. Hood last defeated
Dame Oct. 25, 1999. Saturday's game was also the first time head
coach Staci Brennan earned a win over the Gators.
The Severn, Md., native was instrumental in Hood's shutout of CND.
She scored back-to-back goals in the second half in a span of eight
minutes to break open a 1-0 game and assisted on one of freshman
Maria Smith's two tallies on the afternoon.
In her Blazer career, Noel has scored nine goals and assisted on
three others. She is currently fifth all-time in career points with
21.
The Blazers next game is set for Saturday, Sept. 20, at Cedar Crest
College.
