Noel's School Record Four Goals Help Hood Rout Rosemont

Brandy Noel

FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Brandy Noel scored a school-record four goals as the Hood College field hockey team (3-4) rolled over the Rosemont College Ravens (0-5), 7-0, Friday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

Senior Jen Graham got the Blazers on the board with her first goal of the season off a feed from sophomore Maria Smith in the 16th minute. Then just over nine minutes later, sophomore Jacquie LeMar was awarded a penalty stroke. LeMar sent her shot high and past keeper Adriann Demchenko's glove side for her third goal of the season. Hood outshot the Ravens 19-1 in the first half and took the 2-0 lead into the break.

Less than three minutes into the second half, Noel started her scoring spree with her second tally of the year off a feed from LeMar. Then less than a minute later, junior Katelyn Bramkamp registered the first goal of her Blazer career when she tapped in a rebound after Demchenko made a save on Lauren Perzan's attempt.

Later in the period, Noel became just the second player in Hood field hockey history to record a hat trick when she scored a pair of goals 1:43 apart to push the Blazer lead to 6-0. Perzan assisted on Noel's third score which came in the 59th minute.

Noel wasn't finished though and upped the ante by knocking in her fourth goal of the afternoon in the 64th minute to cap the scoring for the Blazers. Freshman Michelle Buhrman assisted on the score for her first collegiate helper.

Noel's four-goal barrage eclipses the previous record of three held by former Blazer Niki Gough (vs. Randolph-Macon Women's College, Sept. 20, 1997).

Hood's seven goals are the most scored in a single game since Oct. 2, 2001 when the Blazers found the back of the cage a school-record 13 times against Trinity University (D.C.). Hood also surpassed its win total from last season and equaled the seasonal mark set by the 2006 and 2007 field hockey squads.

The Blazers begin a three-game Capital Athletic Conference stretch Tuesday when they host the Stevenson University Mustangs at 4:30 p.m.
