Christine Fairchild

Assistant Coach

Christine Fairchild, a former defensive standout at Radford University, joined the Hood College field hockey coaching staff as an assistant in 2009.

Originally from Lehighton, Pa., Fairchild started 77 of the 86 games she played for the Highlanders and was named to the NorPac Conference all-league second team in 2008. She served as a team captain this past fall and led the defensive unit which posted a 2.56 goals-against average in 2008, good for third in the NorPac. The Highlanders also averaged 0.33 shutouts, ranking Radford 13th in NCAA Division I.

A double major and member of the Radford Honors Program, Fairchild graduated in May 2009 with a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting and a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice. She was a four-time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) all-academic team and was also selected to the Division I National Academic Squad.

Fairchild received numerous other academic awards thoughout her career, including the Joseph L. Kaufmann Award, the Honorable James C. Turk and Barbara D. Turk Criminal Justice Scholarship and the Pennsylvania Accounting Scholarship. Fairchild is also a member of three honor societies. She was inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma (National Criminal Justice Honor Society), Phi Kappa Phi and served as historian of Alpha Lambda Delta, a National Academic Honor Society.

Fairchild was a two-sport athlete at Lehighton High School in field hockey and track & field. She garnered Lehigh Valley All-Area and Mountain Valley Conference first team plaudits as a senior and was a three-time conference champion in the 800 meters at Lehighton.
