Sixty-One Blazers Named to CAC All-Academic Team
FREDERICK, Md.--The Capital Athletic Conference announced Monday that 61 Hood College student-athletes were named to the 2008-09 CAC all-academic team for maintaining at least a 3.2 grade-point average throughout the academic year.
Of the 61 selections to the all-academic team, 17 different sports were represented. The women's track and field team led the way with eight members, while softball and field hockey came in a close second with seven honorees apiece.
Additionally, 26 student-athletes were repeat selections from the 2007-08 all-academic team, and seven student-athletes have been named to the all-academic team all three years that Hood has been a member of the conference. Those seven student-athletes are William Andrews (men's cross country and track & field), Mike Cahill (men's track & field), Ben Caplins (cross country), Caitlin Erickson (women's tennis), Tomilayo Komolafe (men's track & field), Danielle Sgro (women's cross country and track & field) and Katie Thomas (women's track & field).
Also of note, Jamie Bingaman, a rising sophomore on the women's soccer team, garnered a perfect 4.0 GPA during her freshman year, the only Hood student-athlete to do so.
