Junghans Earns First Team All-CAC Honors

FREDERICK, Md.--Junior guard Ryan Junghans of the Hood College men's basketball team was one of five players selected to the Capital Athletic Conference all-league first team, as announced by conference officials Tuesday.
Junghans earned this distinction as one of the elite players in the conference for the second year in a row. Junghans averaged a team-high 20.0 points per game and consistently ranked in the top five in scoring in the CAC throughout the season. One of the most accurate foul shooters in the country, Junghans at one point in the season led the nation (Divisions I, II and III) in free throw shooting. His .959 percentage tops the Division III chart in the latest rankings and is good for second across all three divisions. Junghans also paced the CAC in three-point field goal percentage for much of the season, boasting a .450 percentage.
Junghans earned a plethora of honors during his junior campaign. The native of Derwood, Md., was named to the Provident Pride of Maryland Tournament All-Tournament Team, CAC player of the week once and was named the PrestoSports/Pride of Maryland Player of the Week twice. The second time was following a career-high 47 point performance versus Gallaudet University on Feb. 2. That mark broke Hood's single-game scoring record off 44 held by Santo Provenzano. Junghans became the third Blazer to register 1,000 career points against Marymount Feb. 9.
The Blazers finished in third place in the regular season standings, advancing to their second straight CAC tournament. Despite falling in the quarterfinals of the CAC tournament, Hood posted a winning record of 15-11 overall, 9-7 in the CAC.
