Straughn Completes Dickman's Recruiting Class
FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College head men's basketball coach Tom Dickman added a touted point guard in Brenden Straughn to round out his 2008-09 recruiting class.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised in New Carrolton, Md., Straughn is a 5-9, 165-lb., point guard from Eleanor Roosevelt High School. He averaged 12 points, seven assists and four steals last year and led the Raiders to back-to-back Maryland 4A south regional championships. A first team all-county and honorable mention all-metropolitan selection, Straughn was also a four-time honor roll member.
"Brenden has been at the top of our recruiting list for a very long time," said Dickman. "He is the prototypical point guard from one of the state's best high school programs. Brenden should have an immediate impact on our team."
Straughn joins Dickman's other recruits: guard J'Air Brady of King College and Garrett Williams of North Carroll High School as well as forwards Chris Leggett of Century High School and Herb Bowen of Episcopal High School.
