Justin Stone Selected as PrestoSports/Pride of Maryland Player of the Week

FREDERICK, Md.--Junior forward Justin Stone of the Hood College men's basketball team has been named PrestoSports/Pride of Maryland Player of the Week for February 20.

Stone is the first Blazer to be recognized with this award this season.

The Brunswick, Md., native had one of his best games of the year Wednesday, helping the Blazers secure the sixth and final spot in the Capital Athletic Confernece playoffs by registering his seventh career double-double in an overtime win over Salisbury University. Stone converted a layup with four seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime, then banked home two crucial buckets in the extra session as Hood outscored the Sea Gulls 12-3 in overtime to capture a 58-49 road victory.

Stone finished the game with 17 points, a season-high, and 12 rebounds. He is fifth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.7 points per game, and is the team leader in steals (54) and rebounds (167) and lists second in assists (54).

Hood (15-10) will travel to Dover, Del., Tuesday to face the third-seeded Wesley College Wolverines in a CAC first round tournament game.
