ANNVILLE, Pa. - Hood College's Luke Casey was named to the Academic All-Middle Atlantic Conference men's basketball team for his performance in the classroom and on the basketball court during the 2017-18 season.
A double-major in mathematics and economics, Casey has a minor in business administration and a concentration in international economics. This season, he was fourth in the MAC Commonwealth in rebounds (7.7) and seventh in blocked shots (0.7). Casey recorded double-doubles against Catholic, Eastern Mennonite, Albri, ht and Messiah. The senior forward tallied eight games of 10 or more rebounds, including 14 against Albright. He had three straight 10-plus rebound games against CUA, EMU and Delaware Valley. A multi-sport student-athlete as a member of the track and field team, Casey holds the school record in the decathlon and high jump outdoors.
It marks the fourth straight season the Blazers have placed at least one student-athlete on the Academic All-MAC men's basketball team.
The Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and on the field during the 2018 spring semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote on the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight to both academic success and athletic success.
