Golfers Edge Villa Julie by Three Strokes
HAMPSTEAD, Md.--Freshman Andy Alger fired a seven-over 78 to
lead the Hood College men's golf team to a narrow three-stroke
victory (333-336) over Capital Athletic Conference rival Villa
Julie College Thursday at the Piney Branch Golf Club.
Alger, a native of Frederick and product of Brunswick High School,
was edged by Villa Julie's Matthew Lukehart for medalist honors by
a single stroke. Junior Ryan Junghans carded a nine-over 80 to
finish third while the freshman tandem of Evan Chaney (87) and
Aaron Prescott (88) placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Newcomers
Daniel Reid shot a 107 and finished 12th to round out the Hood
contingent.
Hood has a pair of fall invitationals remaining -- Monday at
Franklin & Marshall and Tuesday at Gettysburg.
