FREDERICK, Md.--Freshman Andy Alger of the Hood College men's golf team was tabbed the Capital Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 7.

Alger, a product of nearby Brunswick High School in Frederick, carded a seven-over 78 to lead the Blazers to a slim three-stoke victory (333-336) over CAC foe Villa Julie College Thursday. He was just one stroke shy of earning medalist honors, which went to the Mustangs' Matt Lukehart.

Alger has participated in all three matches this fall for the Blazers and his 78 was a season-low for any Hood linksman this season. 

Hood will wrap up its fall slate Tuesday at the Gettysburg Invitational.
