Golfers Tie Record at Penn State Harrisburg Invitational

HARRISBURG, Pa.--Junior Evan Chaney fired a five-over 77 to pace the Hood College men's golf team to a school-record-tying team score of 333 Monday at the season-opening Penn State Harrisburg Invitational.

Chaney's round of 77 put him in a six-way tie for 12th place out of 62 golfers at the event, which took place at Dauphin Highlands. He was seven strokes off the pace set by Brian Herman of Rutgers-Camden who won medalist honors with a two-under 70.

Sophomore Tyler Fairley and junior Aaron Prescott carded identical scores of 85 while junior Andy Alger finished with a score of 86. Freshman Ira Benoit registered a score of 91 in his first Hood golf match.

The Blazers placed 10th of 12 schools in the tournament. Fellow Capital Athletic Conference rival York College (Pa.) won the tournament with a combined score of 309.

Hood next travels to Lebanon Valley College Monday for a tournament beginning at 12:30 p.m.
