McCarrick Named Third Team Academic All-American

FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Shane McCarrick of the Hood College men's soccer team has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
McCarrick, a political science major from Myersville, earned a spot on the national ballot by virtue of his selection to the Academic All-District II First Team on Nov. 1.
A founding member and four-year co-captain of the men's soccer
program, McCarrick lists fifth all-time in points with 17 on seven
goals and three assists. A presidential scholar and member of the
honors program at Hood, he has aspirations to attend law school
upon graduation.
Student-athletes selected to the Academic All-District teams must
have achieved at least sophomore academic standing, maintained a
minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA and be a significant contributor to
their team.
