PITTSBURGH, Pa.--Nick Russo's penalty kick in the 75th minute proved to be the difference as the La Roche College Redhawks (1-0) downed the Hood College men's soccer team (0-2) by a 1-0 count Saturday in nonconference action.

Michael Yencho, Chris Zimmerman, Zach Salisbury and Jaime Ramirez all fired shots on net but the Blazers were unable to get one past Redhawk keeper John Happel. Hood netminder Shawn Fernholz turned away eight shot attempts on the afternoon in defeat.

Hood travels to Valley Forge Christian College Tuesday for a nonleague match at 4:30 p.m. Hood is 3-0 all-time against the Patriots and has outscored VFCC 15-2 in its three victories.
