Valley Forge Christian Edges Hood Men, 2-1

Michael Yencho
VALLEY FORGE, Pa.--Sophomore Michael Yencho scored his first collegiate goal but it was not enough as the Hood College men's soccer team (0-3) fell to the Valley Forge Christian College Patriots (1-2) Tuesday afternoon in a nonconference game.
After a scoreless first half, Yencho notched Hood's first score of the fall of a feed from sophomore Chris Mendez in the 47th minute. The Patriots used two Blazer miscues to account for their two tallies just over a minute apart. The first came as a result of an "own goal" and the Patriots cashed in on a penalty kick following a Blazer foul in the box.
The Blazers outshot VFCC by a 30-10 margin, and Hood keeper Shawn Fernholz made three saves in defeat.
Hood returns home to host Mt. Aloysius College Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
