Riedel fifth at MAC Championships in 500-yard freestyle

YORK, Pa. - Hood College's Max Riedel finished fifth the championship final of the 500-yard freestyle to lead the Blazers during the third session of the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Championships at the Graham Aquatics Center. 

How it Happened

  • Riedel swam a career-best 4:45.26, five seconds faster than the fastest he'd completed the event before this year's championships. 
  • Matthew Ball competed in the consolation final and ended up 13th overall. He swam a time of 4:54.66, missing his career-best by barely half a second. 
  • The 200 freestyle relay of Brooks Anderson, Riedel, Cameron King and John Foley captured eighth place in 1:31.48. 

Notes

  • Hood is eighth in the team standings with 82 points. 
  • Albright's 239 points sit atop the leaderboard.

YORK, Pa. - Hood College's Max Riedel qualified for the championship final of the 500-yard freestyle during the preliminaries in session two of the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at the Graham Aquatics Center. 

How it Happened

  • Riedel swam a time of 4:48.83 to earn eighth during qualifying. The time was a personal best by nearly two seconds. 
  • Matthew Ball will swim in the consolation final of the 500 free after turning in the 14th fastest time of the prelims at 4:57.00. 

Notes

  • Session two consisted of preliminary rounds and no points were awarded.
