Men's Track Takes Fifth in First Indoor Meet at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa.--The Hood College men's track and field team placed fifth out of 11 teams competing at the season-opening Lebanon Valley College Invitational Saturday.

Blair Ames finished as the runner-up in the one mile run in a time of 4:48.47, just 2.41 seconds behind LVC's Nick D'Angelo.

Ola Komolafe also came in second in the 300-meter dash in 40.51, just 0.44 seconds off the pace set by Goucher College's Phelan Shea. Komolafe charted the top time in the 55-meter dash in the prelims and came in fourth in the finals in 6.85.

Five other Blazers competed in the 300, including Mike Cahill (41.37), Jordan McNeill (41.50), David McDuffie (41.55), Ames (43.23) and Ivan Chavdarov (46.19). Cahill (7.23) and Chavdarov (7.79) finished 16th and 31st, respectively, in the 55-meter dash.

McNeill was Hood's top finisher in the 500 meters, placing fourth in 1:15.62.

Brett Shelley finished sixth in the 3000 meters (10:10.23) and ninth in the one mile run (4:59.14).

Brendan Greenlees came in 16th in the 3000 meters (11:04.05).

Naseem Zietoon took fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (10.12) and sixth in the 500 meters (1:17.41).

Justin Everett lept to a third-place finish in the long jump (20' 2") and a fourth-place mark in the triple jump (37' 11 3/4").

Conor Prachar garnered a seventh-place showing in the long jump (19' 4 3/4") and was sixth in the triple jump (36' 2 1/4").

Ryan Struss tossed the shot 31' 1 3/4", good for 14th out of 19 competitors and registered a mark of 20' 5 3/4" in the weight throw.

Hood journeys to Ursinus College for the Frank Colden Invitational Saturday at 9 a.m.
