Chris DiGangi, Michael Beidleman Claim All-CAC Honors
FREDERICK, Md.--Senior pole vaulter Chris DiGangi and first-year sprinter Michael Beidleman represented the Hood College men's track and field team on the all-Capital Athletic Conference teams for their performances at the outdoor conference championship.
DiGangi, from Brick, N.J., earned his third outdoor pole vault title at the conference meet at Frostburg State University on May 6. DiGangi, who is Hood's school record holder in both the pole vault and high jump, vaulted 13' 11.25" at the 2012 championship, a full six inches higher than runner-up Daniel Bogush from York College (Pa.). DiGangi also took top honors in his signature event at the first-ever CAC indoor track and field championship in February at George Mason University, increasing his collection of first-team all-CAC certificates to four.
Beidleman (left), from Washington, D.C., racked up his first
all-CAC award with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash in a
time of 49.47 seconds, a new school record. He also ran the anchor
leg of the school record-setting 4x100-meter relay, which narrowly
missed an all-CAC citation. In his first season in a Blazer
uniform, Beidleman took down all three program sprinting
records.
