Shoai Paces Blazers at Hood Invitational

WALKERSVILLE, Md.--Senior Faraz Shoai placed 22nd overall and clocked a time of 29:17 to lead the Hood College men's cross country team to a strong fourth-place finish out of 10 teams at the Hood College Invitational at Heritage Farm Park Saturday.
Hood defeated Capital Athletic Conference rivals Marymount University and Wesley College in the meet. McDaniel College and Hagerstown Community College tied for first place, each with 49 points, but McDaniel earned the tiebreaker by virtue of its sixth man. University of District of Columbia's James Kichwen paced the field in a time of 26:42.
Sophomore William Andrews was Hood's second finisher in a time of 29:29 to place 25th. Nick Manning (30:13) and Blair Ames (30:15) came in 32nd and 33rd, respectively, and Corlin Blakey rounded out the Hood scorers with a time of 31:57.
Steve Delaney crossed the tape in 32:15 while Brendan Greenlees was close behind in 32:25. Tomilayo Komolafe ran 33:18 while younger brother Olauluwa Komolafe clocked in at 34:05. David Frazier (35:06), Jeff Dickens (38:30) and Will Emory (47:28) completed the Hood contingent.
The Blazers host their second straight meet next Saturday at Thomas Athletic Field at 10:30 a.m.
