Blazers Edge Waynesburg for Third Place at Hood Open
WALKERSVILLE, Md.--The Hood College men's cross country team placed four runners in the top 20 en route to finishing third of seven teams at the second annual Hood College Cross Country Open at Heritage Farm Park.
Junior William Andrews was Hood's top finisher, placing eighth of 53 runners in 28:56 to help push the Blazers past Waynesburg University for third place in the team standings by just four points. Nick Manning ran No. 2 for Hood with a clocking of 29:41, good for 16th place. Blair Ames (29:55), Brendan Greenlees (30:06) and Mattia Mabellini (31:06) rounded out the scorers for the Blazers.
Ola Komolafe, David McDuffie, Brian Cathcart, Andrew Weiss and Will Emory also finished the 8K race for Hood.
Shenandoah University won the meet with 48 points and boasted the first, second and fourth place finishers. The freshman tandem of Kyle Gutierrez and Josiah Renton set the pace for the Hornets, crossing the tape together in a time of 27:20.
The Blazers host their second meet of the fall next Saturday on campus beginning at 10:30 a.m.
