Blazer Men Take Third at York Invite

Blair Ames
YORK, Pa.--Ten teams descended on John Rudy Park, just outside York, Pa., on a beautiful fall morning to contest the York College Invitational.
The Blazer men were led by senior captain William Andrews’
13th place finish and freshman Brett Shelley’s 14th place
finish. Both earned individual awards by finishing in the top 15
and their effort led Hood College to a third place finish among
eight teams, five of which were complete.
Senior Blair Ames had a nice race, finishing in 17th place, just
barely out of the individual awards. Completing the team scoring
were Brendan Greenlees and Dave Gudeman, finishing in 23rd and 24th
respectively.
“I thought Blair had a nice race and we were
‘o.k.’ as a team," observed head coach Brent Ayer.
“This was our first race this year at the 8,000 meter
distance and I think we were a little tentative over the longer
distance. Dave is beginning to get his legs under him and is ready
to move up. We are winning some individual awards and I look for us
to get better as the season moves along.”
