Jana Patrick is a 2007 graduate of McNeese State University and
is in her second season with the Hood softball coaching staff.
Patrick was a four-year starter for the Cowgirls who saw time at
first base, in the circle and as the designated player. She helped
the Cowgirls win the Southland Conference tournament title in 2005
and advance to the NCAA regionals hosted by Texas A&M. A
three-time all-SLC all-star, she was selected as the team’s
most valuable player her senior year. A starter in all 59 games,
Patrick led the team in RBI (37), innings pitched (155) and earned
run average (2.71) in addition to striking out 103 hitters. She was
also third on the squad in batting average (.271), base hits (48)
and doubles (13). Following her sophomore year, Patrick was named
to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI first team
as a designated player.
Patrick also served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee during her senior year at MSU. Additionally, Patrick
taught softball fundamentals to campers at McNeese State and Texas
A&M.
After receiving her undergraduate degree in biological and
environmental sciences, she went on to secure a position as a
teacher’s aide at Mt. Airy Christian Academy.
Patrick currently resides in Damascus, Md.
