York Downs Women's Hoops, 77-44

FREDERICK, Md.--The York College women's basketball team (14-4, 6-3 CAC) defeated Hood College (3-14, 1-8 CAC) 77-44 Saturday in a Capital Athletic Conference contest at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School.

Hood used a 12-2 run early in the first half to assume a 12-6 lead at the 12:33 mark. Sophomore Jen Willison scored six of Hood's 12 points on layups in the spurt. But from there the Spartans outscored the Blazers 25-6 over the next 11 minutes and led 34-21 at the break. York forced 20 Hood turnovers in the first stanza.

The Blazers were unable to trim the deficit below double figures in the second half, connecting on just six field goals in the final 20 minutes.

Willison registered a team-high 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds while Whitney Schultheis and Allyson Lethbridge netted nine points apiece. Sara Wastler finished with six points, five rebounds and five assists.

York's Kristen Daly led all scorers with 21 points on 9-10 shooting.

The Blazers return to action Wednesday at the University of Mary Washington for a 6 p.m. CAC tilt.
