Blazer Women Fall to Bison, 70-52

WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Hood College women's basketball team (3-10, 0-6 CAC) dropped a 70-52 Capital Athletic Conference decision to the Gallaudet University Bison (9-4, 4-2 CAC) Wednesday evening.

The Bison led wire-to-wire in the contest en route to earning just their second victory over Hood all-time and the first since the 1996-97 season.

Gallaudet opened up a double-figure lead midway through the opening stanza and went on to take a 17-point advantage (37-20) into halftime.

Hood nearly matched Gallaudet bucket-for-bucket in the second half but was unable to cut into the sizeable deficit.

Four Blazers matched or eclipsed their season-highs in scoring on the night. Jessica Parrish scored a season-high seven points in addition to contributing season-highs of five rebounds, three assists and four steals off the bench. Jessica Talley tied her seasonal high with six points while Brianna Raithel canned a pair of three-pointers for a season-high six points. Lastly, Stacey Jones connected on 3-of-7 from the field to match her season-high with six points.

Jen Willison and Allyson Lethbridge tied for team-high scoring honors with nine points apiece in defeat. Willison's effort vaulted her into sixth place all-time in the Hood scoring annals, now with 1,175 points. She passes Rita Willis '06 who amassed 1,170 career points in the blue and grey.

GU's Easter Faafiti was virtually unstoppable for the victors, connecting on 11-of-12 from the floor for a game-high 27 points. She also registered a double-double with 13 rebounds and picked off five steals. Gallaudet shot an even 50 percent from the field (29-of-58) in the contest.

Hood has a bye from CAC action this weekend and returns to the hardwood Monday at No. 6 Marymount University for a 2 p.m. league matchup.
