Butler Adds Chasity Brittingham and Kelsey Knippenberg to Women's Basketball Roster

FREDERICK, Md.--Head women's basketball coach Jay Butler has announced the additions of guard/forward Chasity Brittingham and guard Kelsey Knippenberg to the 2010-11 women's basketball roster.

Brittingham comes to Hood from Bronx, N.Y., and is a product of South Bronx High School. During her senior with the Lady Phoenix, she averaged five points, eight rebounds and five assists per game and earned the team's sportsmanship award. Brittingham also played AAU ball for the WBA Lady Knicks in Westchester County.

"Chasity will add speed, skill and aggressive play to our team," said Butler. "She is a great leader and competitor."

A native of Cumberland, Md., Knippenberg led the Alleghany High School Campers to four consecutive city titles as the leading three-point shooter in the area. She averaged more than 12 points per game and 2.5 steals per contest as a senior. A high-level competitor who experienced a great deal of success at the high school level, Knippenberg and the Campers advanced to the regional state finals twice and the state championship once. She earned a spot on the Richard E. Doub Christmas Classic all-tournament team as well as the Big East all-star tournament. Her extracurricular activities include serving as the student body historian as well as class vice-president. Knippenberg also excelled in the classroom, ranking in the top 15 percent of her senior class and will graduate with a service learning award medal.
