GLENSIDE, Pa.--Sophomore Briana Lee came off the bench to register a season-high 14 points but it was not enough as the Hood College women's basketball team (4-7, 2-3 Commonwealth) lost to the Arcadia University Knights (8-5, 1-5 Commonwealth) by a margin of 69-50 Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Conference contest.
Lee made 4-of-10 from the field and 2-of-5 from distance to pace the Blazers. Shakara Head finished with nine points and matched two career-highs with five blocks and a game-high 12 rebounds. Dyanna Prater chipped in seven points and four boards while Heather Boyce netted a season-high five points, a block and a steal. Arcadia finished with three players in double figures and led wire-to-wire on the day. After trailing by 12 at the halftime break (35-23), Hood managed to cut the deficit in half after a layup by Olivia Hosch and two free throws by Briana Lee to make it a six-point game, 38-32, at the 17:10 mark of the second half. The two teams traded baskets over the next few possessions, but with the margin at seven with 12:30 to play (44-37), Arcadia strung together an 11-0 run over a span of 4:18 to go up 55-37. Hood got no closer than 15 the rest of the way.
