Women's Soccer Adds Six to 2008 Roster

FREDERICK, Md.--Hood College head women's soccer coach Jen Wood has announced the addition of six recruits for the 2008 season.
Kristen Cacciola and Rachel Wolf both hail from Smithsburg High School in Smithsburg, Md. Cacciola, a goalkeeper, and Wolf, a midfielder, led their team to the Maryland 1A State Championships in 2005 and 2006. Wolf is a two-time all-county selection in soccer, and was honorable mention all-county in track.
Kelsey Parker will join the Blazers from Cumberland, Md. At Fort Hill High School, the striker was named to numerous all-area teams during her four-year varsity career. Parker also took Fort Hill to the second round of the Maryland West Region Playoff for the first time in school history.
A center-midfielder from Hagerstown, Md., Carlie Colella is a product of North Hagerstown High School. Colella received first-team all-county, all-area and all-league honors this past season as North Hagerstown won its second-straight Washington County title. Colella was also a top performer for her school's track team.
Patricia Havasy from Silver Spring, Md., comes to Hood from Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville, Md. Havasy lettered two years in varsity soccer and earned four letters in varsity swimming.
Casey Miller is a midfielder from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School in Broadview Heights, Ohio. She was a part of the Southwest Conference championship squad in 2006 and her team finished as the district runner-up in 2005.
"This is one of the strongest and largest recruiting classes Hood has ever seen," said Wood, who will be entering her third season at the helm this fall. "With the addition of these players in all different positions it is going to tremendously increase the strength and size of our squad."
The Blazers completed their inaugural season in the Capital Athletic Conference this past fall with an overall record of 7-11. Hood also finished sixth in the league standings with a 3-5 CAC mark.
