FREDERICK, Md.--Sophomore Jenna Burns, a midfielder for the Hood College women’s soccer team, has been named as the Hood College Athlete of the Week after she helped the Blazers snag their first win of the 2008 season Sunday at Gallaudet University.

Burns recorded two goals and an assist in Hood’s 9-0 Capital Athletic Conference victory against the Bison. Burns, a Smithsburg, Md., native, scored just one goal for the Blazers last season.

Hood has now won five straight contests against Gallaudet dating abck to the 2003 season and has shut out the Bison in the last three meetings.

The Blazers (1-3, 1-1 CAC) return to action Tuesday, Sept. 9 against St. Mary’s College (Md.). Due to field maintenance, the game will be played at the Germantown SoccerPlex.
