CHESTERTOWN, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (7-4-1) extended its unbeaten streak to seven in a row Saturday with a 3-1 defeat of Washington College (1-9) in nonconference action.
Wesley took the early advantage in the 25th minute when Gabby Devaud scored off a through ball from Aliina Lahti. But the Blazer offense came alive in the second half, outshooting the Wolverines 13-4 which translated into three goals. Carlie Colella notched her seventh goal of the season in the 62nd minute off a feed from classmate Jessica Devine to knot the score at 1-1. Then Cara Jordan tallied a pair of unassisted scores to lift Hood to its seventh win of the season, matching last year's total.
Colella now has 22 points on the season which ranks her sixth on Hood's all-time single-season chart. Kirsten Cacciola was credited with the win for working a scoreless second half and coming up with a pair of stops.
Hood next travels to Stevenson University for a 4 p.m. Capital Athletic Conference tilt. The Mustangs are currently in third place in the league with a 1-0-1 mark in CAC contests while Hood sits in sixth at 3-2.
