Antalffy, Colella, Miller Score for Hood in 3-0 Win Over Purchase

Carlie Colella
FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's soccer team (3-2) downed the visiting Purchase College Panthers (1-2), 3-0, Saturday afternoon in a nonconference game at Thomas Athletic Field.
Sophomore Casey Miller got the Blazers on the board in the 18th minute when she tallied her first goal of the season. Laura Hines settled Nikki Antalffy's throw-in from the right sideline and found Miller in the middle of the box. Miller booted the ball over the leaping Steph Janasiewicz and into the back of the net for the lone score by either team in the first half.
Then in the 57th minute of the second half, Antalffy beat Janasiewicz high again off a feed from Katherine Rendon for her first goal of the season.
Just 3:26 later, Cara Jordan sent a beautiful cross to Carlie Colella who registered her third goal of the fall. The assist was the 14th of Jordan's Hood career, which ties former Blazer Tamara Maggard for the all-time lead in that category.
Rachelle Buhrman denied the Panthers' best scoring chance in the second half when she thwarted Abigail Katz's shot on net with a diving save to her left. She and Kirsten Cacciola combined for their third shutout of the year.
The Blazers return to action Wednesday at the College of Notre Dame (Md.) at 4:30 p.m.
