Hood Sits in Sixth After Day One of CAC Meet

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The Hood College women's swim team sits in sixth place after day one of the 2009 Capital Athletic Conference championships at the ARC Aquatics Center on the campus of St. Mary's College (Md.).
Erica Hamor was 24th in the 500 free (5:52.41), eclipsing her season-best by more than three seconds. Ashley Garyn and Melissa Masino also swam season-bests in the event. Garyn was 25th in 5:57.07 and Masino took 28th in 6:39.97.
Kara Cruice lowered her seasonal best in the 200 IM while placing 22nd in 2:38.01, while Michelle Leggieri captured 23rd in the 50 free in 27.67.
The 200 free relay squad of Michelle Leggieri, Garyn, Kara Cuice and Hamor finished sixth in 1:51.31. That same foursome comprised the 400 medley relay which placed fifth in 4:35.82.
Hood is three points ahead of Gallaudet University after one day of racing. Preliminary action resumes Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
