Women's Swimming Splits with Juniata, PSU-Altoona in Double Dual
HUNTINGDON, Pa.--The Hood College women's swim team (5-8, 1-5 CAC) split a double dual in its regular season finale at Juniata College Saturday.
The Blazers lost to the host Eagles, 75-20, but defeated Penn State-Altoona, 66-27, to finish 5-8 in dual meet action on the season.
Hood's lone individual winner on the day was Arielle Harding in the 100 breast (1:18.78). She captured the top spot in that event for the seventh time this season. Harding was also second in the 200 IM (2:38.94).
The 200 medley relay squad of Theresa Schwarzwalder, Harding, Daniela Mittelkamp and Hayley Rogers finished a close second to the Juniata squad in 2:14.13.
Aleece Groom dropped more than 10 seconds off her season-best in the 800 to place third (11:28.30) while Rogers touched out Juniata's Shayna King for second in the 200 free (2:23.29). Lindsay Cronin and Schwarzwalder took second and third, respectively, in the 400 free.
Hood's final test of the season will come in three weeks when the Blazers travel to St. Mary's College (Md.) for the Capital Athletic Conference championship Feb. 17-19.
