Women's tennis just short in spring opener

FROSTBURG, Md. - The Hood College women's tennis team fell 5-4 at Frostburg State to open the Blazers' spring portion of the schedule. 

How it Happened

  • Megan Carter and Skylar Wright combined for three of Hood's four points. The duo notched an 8-2 win over Sammi Turner and Elizabeth Mott at second doubles for the Blazers' only point in doubles play. 
  • Both players went to three sets in singles play for wins. Carter scored a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) win over Jenna Lipinski at No. 2 singles. Wright outlasted Turner at fourth singles 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7).
  • Jennifer Slick defeated Sophia Staggers at fifth singles for Hood's other point 6-4, 6-3.
