Women's Track and Field Competes at Washington & Jefferson Invite

WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Hood College women's track and field team traveled to Washington, Pa., Saturday for the Washington & Jefferson College Invitational.
Hood's highest finisher on the day was freshman Lauren
Smith in the steeplechase finishing third in 12:43.16,
lowering her school record and Capital Athletic
Conference qualifying mark.
In fourth was Jessica Parrish in the 100 meter dash with a
finals time of 13.12.
Danielle Sgro slashed the 5000 meter school record by 17 seconds to
19:35.21 with another CAC qualifying mark. "Danielle just
ripped it," said head coach Brent Ayer. "She moved up a dozen
places in the last two miles and her final mile as her fastest.
There is a lot more in the tank. She was always very strong. Now
she is gaining confidence."
In addition to the school records, a number of personal records were set--Sara Stiles in the 800 and 1500 and Kelly Keyser in the 400 and 200.
Hood's next meet is slated for Saturday April 12 at West Chester University.
