Bailey breaks hammer record for second straight week

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Jackie Mangogna and Samantha Bailey combined for five top-eight finishes to lead Hood College to an 11th place finish at the Messiah Invitational. 

How it Happened

  • Mangogna had the Blazers' best finish of the day, claiming second in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.82 seconds. She added a sixth-place finish in the long jump of 4.86 meters (15-11 1/2) and a seventh in the high jump by clearing 1.38 meters (4-6 1/4). 
  • Bailey set the school record in the hammer throw for the second straight week. The senior's heave of 40.33 meters (132-4) broke her own record set just eight days ago. She was eighth in both the shot put and hammer throw. She threw the shot 11.05 meters (36-3 1/2). 

Notes

  • Messiah won the meet with 192.5 points. 
  • Hood was 11th with 15 points.
