Blazers Come Up Short in Two Matches at Scranton Invitational


SCRANTON, Pa.--The Hood College volleyball team lost two tight matches in pool play Friday at the University of Scranton Invitational. The Blazers (1-9) fell 3-0 to Mt. Aloysius (20-30, 20-30, 26-30) and 3-0 to Centenary (20-30, 25-30, 25-30).

In the first match against the Mounties, senior Lindsey Nagy notched 11 kills and served up four aces to go along with six digs. Nagy is now fourth all-time at Hood in career service aces with 186. Senior Jamie Bussey was outstanding defensively, digging out 20 balls in the three-set match. Freshman Katie Worthington hit .571, picking up four kills on seven attempts with no errors.

In the second match with Centenary, Nagy once again keyed the offense with 15 kills while Bussey recorded 17 more digs and senior Caroline Woodhams and freshman Kristina Straub combined to set up 35 of Hood's 43 kills.

Hood continues play at the Scranton Invitational Saturday at 10 a.m.
