Blazer Volleyball Comes Up Short at Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va.--Freshman Brittany Tribett registered a double-double of 12 assists and 10 digs for the Hood College volleyball team (0-2) in a 3-1 loss (25-15, 25-16, 19-25, 25-13) to the Shenandoah University Hornets (4-0) Tuesday in nonleague action.
After dropping the first two sets, the Blazers rebounded to take the third set, 25-19. But the Hornets closed out the match with a 25-13 triumph in the fourth set to remain undefeated on the season.
Junior Chelsea Weaver posted a stellar defensive effort with a match-high 24 digs to go along with a pair of service aces. Senior Ashley Burns smacked a team-high seven kills and notched nine digs while junior Kristina Straub put down six kills and also had nine digs.
Senior Leah Garland amassed five kills and eight digs while junior Kristan Hawkins finished with five assists, four kills and three aces. Sophomore Megan Heidel chipped in with a pair of digs and an assist, freshman Brittany Lethbridge totaled three kills and two assists and Laura Saad served up an ace and had two digs.
The Blazers wrap up their season-opening three-match road trip Thursday at Penn State Harrisburg for a 7 p.m. match.
