The 2016 Season marks Jennifer Muhlenberg’s fourth year as a member of the Blazer women’s volleyball coaching staff.
Muhlenberg is a 1991 graduate of Plattsburgh High School in upstate New York, who played four years of varsity volleyball. As an outside hitter, she led her team to two consecutive sectional championships in 1990 and 1991, earning the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year Award and the Merritt C. Clifford Award. She was also selected to play for the Adirondack Region’s volleyball team at the New York Empire State Games in the Summer of 1990.
Muhlenberg graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a B.S. in French and minors in German and European Studies. Though her collegiate focus was primarily on academics, including a year abroad in Switzerland and a post-graduate internship in Newfoundland, Canada, she continued to pursue her passion for volleyball by playing with informal club teams (including abroad).
Since graduating, she’s participated in USA Volleyball tournaments at the women’s A and AA club levels, and has competed in numerous AA and Open level women’s outdoor doubles tournaments for the last 16 years.
Muhlenberg was introduced to coaching when Hood head coach Ellen Faaleolea-Nordgren asked her to assist at a fall youth clinic at the Bohrer Activity Center in Gaithersburg, Maryland. That experience led Muhlenberg into junior club coaching, where she served as assistant coach for a 12-and-under team with the Metro American Volleyball Club (North Region) for several years. In the offseason, in addition to recruiting, she is the assistant director for the Blazer Volleyball Summer Camp Series.
In addition to her role at Hood College, Muhlenberg maintains a full-time position at PNC Bank as a Client Relationship Group Manager in Corporate Banking. She and her husband, Henry, reside in Virginia with their three children, cat and two labs.
