Blazer Women Take Fifth at Hood Invite

WALKERSVILLE, Md.--Junior Danielle Sgro placed sixth among the competing intercollegiate student-athletes and the Hood College women's cross country team finished fifth of seven teams competing in the Hood College Invitational at Heritage Farm Park Saturday.
McDaniel College won the team competition, outdistancing runner-up Penn State Altoona by 24 points. Hood finished ahead of Delaware Valley College and Mt. Aloysius College. Unattached runner Diana Pool was the top finisher on the day in a time of 23:03. University of the District of Columbia's Stellah Sang was the first college runner to cross the tape in 23:38.
Sgro logged a time of 25:41 and finished ninth overall. Lauren Smith was the second Blazer to the finish with a time of 26:24. Sara Stiles (29:58) and Katie Thomas (30:10) placed 40th and 41st, respectively, and Lisa Blickenstaff clocked a time of 31:03.
Other finishers for Hood included April Penn (31:30), Kelley Keyser (33:43), Jen Willison (33:45) and Adrienne Cornett (34:30).
Hood will host another invitational next Saturday at Thomas Athletic Field at 10:30 a.m.
