ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The No. 18 St. Mary's College Seahawks
earned a 31-3 Capital Athletic Conference victory over the Hood
College men's lacrosse team Tuesday in the season opener for both
schools.
Three different Blazers scored for Hood in the second half.
Junior attack Will Oconis got Hood on the board with 6:29 left in
the third quarter when he found the net off a feed from junior
midfield Jason Anderson. Oconis also won five faceoffs on the
afternoon.
Sophomore midfield Bryan Lentz scored his first goal of the
season in the final minute of the third quarter and freshman attack
Sofiane Lazar registered his first collegiate goal at the 12:37
mark of the fourth quarter. Lentz also scooped up nine ground balls
and won a pair of faceoffs.
Junior goalkeeper Sam Hofmann made 14 saves for the Blazers
while freshman Ricardo Gomez saw just over 20 minutes of action in
goal and turned away three shots. Sixteen different players scored
for St. Mary's.
The Blazers return to action Saturday at Virginia Wesleyan
College. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Norfolk, Va.
