ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--The Hood College men's lacrosse team (0-1,
0-1 CAC) dropped a 21-4 decision to the St. Mary's College (Md.)
Seahawks Tuesday in the season opener for both schools.
Three of Hood's four goals came on man-up opportunities. Jason
Anderson netted a pair of goals while Michale Matteson and Blake
Rust also found the back of the net for Hood. Will Oconis tallied a
pair of assists while Anderson was credited with an assist on
Rust's tally in the first quarter.
After one quarter of play, the Blazers trailed just 3-1, but the
Seahawks outscored Hood 9-1 in the second quarter to break the game
open. Twelve different players scored for St. Mary's, which outshot
Hood 53-14.
Sam Hofmann started in goal for Hood and registered 10 saves
over three-plus quarters. Nicholas O'Brien played the final 13:10
in the net and turned away six shots.
Hood returns to action Saturday hosting Virginia Wesleyan
College in its home opener at 1 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
