FREDERICK, Md.--Freshman Troy Hubbard and sophomore Dominique
Shorter netted unassisted goals for the Hood College men's lacrosse
team (1-12, 0-6 CAC) in a 17-2 Capital Athletic Conference loss to
St. Mary's College (Md.) (6-5, 4-2 CAC) Tuesday afternoon in the
Blazers' home finale.
After the Seahawks reeled off the game's first 10 goals, Hubbard
got the Blazers on the board with his 19th tally of the spring at
the 4:20 mark of the second quarter. Hubbard is now tied with
sophomore Kris Miner for team-high scoring honors, each with 19
goals to their credit. Shorter's score came late in the third
quarter and marked his 11th marker of the spring.
Dennis Rosson finished with six points for the visitors, scoring
twice and assisting on four other Seahawk scores. Rosson was one of
11 players on the St. Mary's roster to find the back of the net.
Will Dempster netted a hat trick to pace the Seahawks.
St. Mary's won 19 of the game's 23 face-offs and outshot Hood
58-9 on the afternoon. Nick O'Brien tallied 14 saves in defeat
while Pat Simpson and JJ Strombosky turned away four shots for the
victors.
Hood closes out the regular season Friday when the Blazers
battle the top-ranked team in NCAA Division III, the Stevenson
