ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.--Junior Dom Shorter and freshman Alex
Engler both netted goals for the Hood College men's lacrosse team
(6-6, 0-3 CAC) in a 16-2 Capital Athletic Conference defeat to the
St. Mary's College (Md.) Seahawks (6-3, 3-0 CAC) Saturday
afternoon.
Shorter's team-leading 18th score came with 41 seconds left in
the first quarter on a man-up opportunity and ended a run of seven
straight Seahawk scores. But the Blazer attack was stifled for the
next two quarters until Shorter set up Engler in the final two
minutes of regulation. Engler's tally was his second of the season.
Hector Montoya won four face-offs while Adam Patterson nabbed
four ground balls and forced two Seahawk turnovers. Will Lane
stopped nine St. Mary's attempts on the afternoon.
Michael Mules paced the Seahawk offense with five goals, all in
the first quarter.
Hood returns to action Wednesday hosting the University of Mary
Washington in a CAC game at 4 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
