Men's Basketball Welcomes Arcadia in MAC Commonwealth Match Up

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's basketball team will host Arcadia for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth matchup on Monday, February 01 at 8 p.m.

SCOUTING HOOD

The Blazers are 10-9 overall this season and 4-6 in the MAC Commonwealth.

Hood is led by senior Davon Hill (Clinton, Md. / Potomac School), who is averaging 14.8 points per game and has a team-high 60 assists on the year. Freshman Jared Ruiz (Frederick, Md. / Oakdale) adds 9.2 points per game average and leads the team in 3-pointers with 26. Freshman Daniel Wegener (Falling Waters, W. Va. / Broadfording Christian (Md.)) leads the team in rebounds with 7.1 per game and is contributing an average of 9.5 points per game.

LAST TIME OUT

Hood College fell to visiting Albright in conference action on Senior Day for the Blazers, 90-59. Wegener led Hood with 16 points and nine rebounds. He was 4-of-7 shooting and 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Jeffrey Monfort (Wicomico, Md. / Wicomico) came off the bench for seven points in eight minutes of work. Trevor Magnuski (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) had seven boards and Ian Eversull (Ijamsville, Md. / Urbana) blocked two shots.

SCOUTING ARCADIA

Arcadia is 13-5 on the season overall and 6-3 in the MAC Commonwealth.

The Knights are led in scoring by John Landro, who is averaging 17.8 points per game and shooting 41.8 percent from 3-point-range and 85.7 percent from the free throw line. Ryan Kelly is averaging 13.9 points per contest for the Knights, and a team-high 3.5 assists. Evan Slone is leading Arcadia in rebounding with 5.9 per game, along with 11.1 points and his team-high 16 blocks on the year.

LAST MEETING

Hood College got career-highs from Ruiz and Wegener as the freshman class combined for 49 points, but it was not enough as Arcadia held off the Blazers 70-65 in their first matchup this season on January 2.

Ruiz knocked down 8-of-16 field goals and 3-of-6 3-pointers on his way to career-bests of 21 points and nine rebounds. Wegener had the highest scoring day of his college career with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Hill had six assists.
