ANNVILLE, Pa. - Hood College's Mason Wang was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Blazers to the Battle of DC & Maryland title and a 3-0 week.
Wang, who was named the MVP of the tournament over the weekend, averaged 22 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals per game, while shooting 46 percent (21-of-46) from the field, 40 percent (8-of-20) from 3-point range and 89 percent (17-of-19) from the charity stripe. Wang totaled 67 points, 13 rebounds, 13 assists, seven steals and one blocked shot. The sophomore opened the week with 23 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 90-64 win over Wilson. In an 86-74 win over Catholic to open the tournament, Wang scored 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting with four rebounds, five assists and two steals. In the title game (W, 94-82) against St. Mary's, the sophomore scored 18 points with five rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block.
