ANNVILLE, Pa. - Hood College's Nikki Lunn was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Defensive Player of the week after helped the Blazers to a pair of victories.
She anchored a Blazer defense that allowed just three goals over two contests last week. Lunn finished the week with six caused turnovers and seven ground balls. The junior helped preserve a shutout in a 22-0 win over Waynesburg to begin the week with two ground balls and a caused turnover. Lunn then recorded five caused turnovers, one short of the Blazers' single-game record, and five ground balls in a 14-3 win over Juniata.
It is the second straight week to open the season that a Blazer has earned the honor. Goalie Danielle Holt was honored on February 25.
Hood will look to stay in the win column during its spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina on March 5-6.
