Women's soccer takes early lead before falling to Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Hood College women's soccer team led Catholic at halftime but the Cardinals came back for a 6-3 victory.

How it Happened

  • Jasmine Mangle, assisted by Merritt, tied the match 1-1 in the sixth minute for her first goal of the season.
  • Later in the 24th minute, Merritt tallied her second goal of the day with an unassisted goal which tied the game 2-2.
  • Eight minutes later, Erin Scarborough beat her defender to give Hood a 3-2 halftime lead.
  • The Cardinals scored four unanswered goals in the second half for a 6-3 victory.


  • Catholic outshot the Blazers 27-10.
  • Nina Fernandez stopped four shots for the Cardinals.
