Volleyball Stumbles at Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Hood College volleyball team dropped a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth match at Messiah 3-0.

How it Happened

  • The Blazers led 8-6 in the first set after a kill by Belella, but the Falcons reeled off six straight points to take the lead. Hood pulled within 15-14 after a bad set by Messiah, but Messiah held on for the 25-19 win. 
  • Hood pulled with 13-12 on an attack error in the second set before the Falcons closed things out with a 12-3 run. 
  • Messiah caught fire in the third set with 11 kills on 16 attacks without an error (.688) to put the Blazers away. 


  • Mary Underman had nine kills to lead the Falcons. Jennifer Rusling dished out 28 assists and served four aces. Jessica Zellers tallied 12 digs.
